Surface Preparation
Steel prepared to the specified ISO 8501 standard — Sa 2½ by abrasive blast cleaning or St 3 power tool cleaning for refurbishment.
Soluble Salt Testing (Where Specified)
On high-specification projects, soluble salt levels tested before priming, ensuring compliance with ISO 8502-9.
Primer Application with DFT Verification
The specified primer applied by professional airless spray. DFT readings taken using a calibrated gauge.
Intermediate Coat (Where Specified)
High-build intermediate coats applied where the total system DFT requires additional build — typically on C4–C5 systems.
Topcoat Application
Final colour coat applied in a minimum of two passes, achieving full coverage and specified gloss level.
Intumescent Fire Coat (Where Required)
Intumescent topcoats applied at thickness determined by the structural engineer's fire engineering specification.
Full Project Audit, DFT Report & Sign-Off
Complete DFT inspection report produced. Project signed off and all documentation issued to the client.

Transparent base pricing. A full physical site survey is required to lock in the final contract value.

Steelwork spraying at Sparta Coatings starts from £75 per m² for exterior structural steel and from £65/m² for internal steel refurbishment. Intumescent fire protection is priced on the structural engineer's specification.
